Memories
Dave Morgan joined Danny King's Mayfair Set (Danny King and the Mayfair Set) in c Jan 1966. This band was formed in 1964 by Danny King (Arthur Benwell) (born Daniel Arthur Benwell) (ex Danny King and the (his) Dukes / the Royals / the Jesters). (born Trevor Ireson, 9.3.1944, in Catherine Street, Aston, Birmingham, Warwickshire) lead guitar, vocals (ex Trevor Burton and the Everglades, Danny King and the Jesters); Keith Smart (born 10.12.1944, in Victoria Street? Aston, Birmingham) drums (ex Trevor Burton and the Everglades, Danny King and the Jesters); Roger Harris organ and Pete Allen bass, soon replaced by Denny Ball (born Dennis Ball, in 19?? Erdington, Birmingham) (ex The Deadbeats).

Their first gig was the Belfry in Wishaw. King left The Mayfair Set in Jan 1966 and so did Burton. When Trevor Burton left to join The Move he was replaced by Morgan. The organist in King's band Roger Harris got a call from Morgan talking about Burton's job. He passed the phone to King and told him his name was Dave Morgan and that he played guitar, sang and wrote songs. King told him he could start with the band on the following Monday. Drummer David Reay joined in c Jan 1966. King went to various groups, while Burton helped form The Move in Jan 1966, while Morgan who left c Feb 1966 and joined The Uglys in 1967.

It seems that bassist Denny Ball; drummer David Reay and organist, guitarist Roger Harris continued with the band The Mayfair Set, adding Jim Murphy and Chris Evans on guitar, vocals. The band went to Germany for a year from 1966 to 1967. On return to UK in Sep 1967 the band split. Ball went to Bedlam and other bands.
