Killer Elite – Tamworth Arts Centre
ASHBY-BASED rockers Killer Elite sent a small but appreciative audience home happy after a fine Arts Centre show.

Although technical problems hampered the opening number, they soon got down to the business with songs like “Rocking Mad” and “Time To Rock” standing out as numbers combining class and raw power - a rare combination these days.

Lead vocalist John Haynes led his troops from the front and had the crowd singing with him on the crazy “Let’s Go All The Way”. Another man to watch out for is Mark Walker, a potential axe hero if ever I saw one dong spur-of-the-moment solos and dominating the band’s sound.

Rhythm section John Lee (bass) and Trevor Padgett (drums), remained solid throughout, completing a very useful combo. After a titanic version of “Chase The Hurricane” and a good encore, the band left the stage possibly to return in the future with Tamworth rockers Sacred Oath.

AN ASHBY-BASED heavy band, who are due to play Tamworth later this month, have sent out an appeal for a new drummer. The band, Killer Elite, already have a demo tape out and there are plans for a single within the next two months. In addition they have several prestigious gigs lined up and so the successful applicant can expect to be very busy, very quickly. If you are interested, the person to contact is John Haynes.

A NEW rock band who list U2, The Police and Big Country as their main influences are on the lookout for a new singer. The band, as yet unnamed, have a basic line-up and are now looking for a new frontsman to put the cherry on the rock and roll cake. For more details contact Brian Robinson.

THE Killer Elite will be coming to Tamworth on Saturday night to play their first proper gig in the town.

The Ashby-based rockers play heavy music with a little bit extra, and are likely to cause a stir when they come out onto the Arts Centre stage tomorrow night. A support band should be helping them out and the fun starts at 8pm.
